Just got Windows live for email and can't download hotmail emails

What's this about and is there any way of doing it or am I forced to turn to another email option!
A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.

    When trying to set up as new account in windows live I get this:

    Windows Mail no longer supports HTTP servers used by Hotmail and other web-based providers?

    You need to download Windows Live Mail as that has now replaced Windows Mail

    Thanks. My PC is only a few weeks old and was thinking all up to date but clearly not.:confused:
