Hi all, me again.

Updated the Belkin wireless driver on machine two and it is showing exxcellent signal strength.

Cant get it to connect to the 'net? what am i doing wrong?

Was working fine before the update.

I'm sure it's something simple but brain a bit worn out today.

go to control panel, system , hardware tab , then Device Manager

double click on the wireless adapter , then click on the drivers tab , there is an option to Roll back

........"No driver files have been backed up for this device" - and Sys restore doesn't work.

So its a belkin USB wireless dongle?

    Why did you update it?

Can you not install the original driver in its place?

is it as simple as you needing to reconnect to the network? right clicking the wireless icon on the taskbar...connect to (your network) and input the key?!

    Yes.

I put in the key and both network & wireless connections are showing as excellent but no connection to the net

local area connection - network bridge - network cable unplugged

wireless network connection network bridge - enabled - bridged

try using windows Zero to manage the wireless connection

    http://www.ezlan.net/wzc.html
The following describes how to Check, and switch WZC On. The same principle applies in case you need to switch it Off, choose the Off/Stop options while you are at the menus (the same method can be used to configure other services too).
    1. Click Start and Run
    2. Type into the Run box "services.msc" (without the quotation).
    3. Scroll down and look for the service Wireless Zero Configuration

Double Click on the Service, Screen Shot of the services
    4. Make sure that it is Started and that the startup type is set to automatic.
    Screen Shot of WZC
If the Service did not Started, or and is Not set to Automatic.
To Start the Service click on the Start button.
To set the service to automatic, click on the down arrow and change it to Automatic
