in Water bills
Hi everyone,
I am not a regular user on here but my boyfriend is. But i would really appreicate some advice please. Today I have had a letter from advantis credit reagrding a water bill saying i owe £71.84 for the period ending 16.10.2002. If i dont pay by 17th march debt collectors will come to my house and collect the debt personally. I am already on a dmp with CCCS and am now in a serious stress about it all. I dont have that money. I am 13 weeks pregnant and already have High Blood pressure
My boyfriend says because its over 6 years ago they cant claim it back, is this the case or am I going to end up in court?
Thx for reading.

Hi Becki.
1. Don't let this issue cause you too much stress. Something can always be sorted to resolve this problem.
2. The bill may be over 6 years old but UU will state that they have made attempts to collect this balance a number of times over the 6 years and so it is still collectable.
3. Contact UU. Go via a letter to the complaints departmentUnited UtilitiesWA55 1SE
PO Box 453
Warrington
Ensure that you include the words dissatisfied complaint etc to ensure that it is handled by the complaints team.
4. Advise that if you do owe this balance that you will pay it but require some help/time to do so (if you have another account you could ask for it to be moved over and spread out over the coming 12 months)
5. Advise them of your circumstances
6. Contact advantis credit and let them know that you have raised a complaint with UU and for them to hold the account actions.
Don't worry, something can always be sorted out.

Hope this helps.
