Called in for interview

Hi I have just received a letter asking me to attend an interview next Monday by the compliance department a the job centre. I have phoned them up to see what this is about and was told I would find out on Monday.
My situation is I'm a lone parent and go into the job centre every three weeks voluntary to see an advisor and look for work regulary in between times. I claim only what I am entitled to and can't think what this is about.
All the time I hear about peoples money being stopped without warning and am now really worried about this interview. My questions is what is this compliance department about and has any one else ever been called into one of these interviews and does anyone have any ideas what it could be about. I find it strange they can't or won't tell me over the phone and now have a long wait to find out what is happening.

They probably just want to check your claim in order to ensure there is no changes of circumstances etc, that may affect your current claim, unless you have done something wrong, i really wouldnt worry about it.It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.0

I have had this happen whilst claiming, just take a list of the efforts you have made, if possible include cuttings from newspapers, etc. I made up a little file and handed it over to them. They know there are few jobs out there and plenty of people on the market, they are just ticking boxes as they need to ensure that people are making a real effort. If it is specifically compliance, it is more likely that they are also checking whether you feel you have received a good service from the job centre. Don't worry yourself over it.Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Could be, if your child is around 12, that they're calling you in to tell you the rules have changed and you now have to actively seek work and sign on.0

I had a compliance officer come to my house after i refused to fill in a form to claim throught the CSA as my ex paid directly!!! They made a huge fuss about it but I stood my ground. They are jumped up jobs worths in that department!!:dance: Thanks to everybody in the crafting threads who inspired me to start my own business!!0

I wonder, if your ex stopped paying you directly and the CSA did everything they could to make sure in future everything was done correctly and through the proper channels for you, and forced your ex to pay up, would you be rude and call them jumped up jobsworths then?
It is amazing the amount of abuse people can get just for doing their jobs properly.0 -

Thought of that but that doesn't happen for until November.
ALthough everyone is saying don't worry about it as I have done nothing wrong and it probably is just a tick box interview The way the letter is worded is upsetting but its even worse when I rang to query what it was about the people on the phone were very cagey saying it'll all be made clear on Monday. SOme weekend I'm going to have although will be phoning my advisor in the morning to see if she can ind anything out.0 -
I had to see compliance as they had an amount of savings interest I had received that made it look like I perhaps had more money than I'd stated.
Their records were at least 2-3 years out of date and I had previously spent the money on a conservatory, so it was just a simple formality. Had to sign statement to say what accounts I had and didn't have this one anymore.0 -
I had a letter the same as yours.
Regarding the wording, dont worry, it does sound worrying, but they use that standard letter for everyone, so 1 person might be commiting benefit fraud and another is just being invited to check over some details but they both recieve that same intimidating letter.
When I called and asked what it was about, they told me, perhaps try again, you may have just gotten through to an unhelpful member of the department.2009 Rewards Recived so far.....£40 Argos vouchers - Pulse, £5 Amazon Voucher - Mysurvey, £20 Argos Voucher - Shop and Scan, £10 Argos Voucher - IPSOS, £8.50 Paypal Payment - Opinion World, £4 Luncheon Vouchers - Pinecone ResearchTotal so far £87.500 -
Update
I have phoned them again This morning after a worrying evening and the lady I spoke to had a look at my file and told me someone has made an alegation against me that I am working so it needs to be looked in to.
So that has settled me a little at least I know what it is about now I'm just mad that someone has gone out of their way to make up these lies.0
