cheap train tickets

in Scotland
i've been online trying to buy a train ticket from glasgow to aberdeen for the end of april. i can't seem to find a ticket that will cost no less than the price of a standard day ticket of £35 even tho i am buying in advance. can anyone help my find a cheaper train ticket for this route?

    are you returning? if so your best bet is to go to the station atleast 48 hours before you travel and get the apex fare for £19.50. You do have to be on the specified trains though.
    Sometimes i surprise myself by being right.
