i wanna extend slope to my driveway! is it illegal? help..

hi, my drive way has enough room for 2 cars yet the pavement has only a sloped kerb big enough for 1 car to get on. the rest of it is a full size kerb.(all kerbs owned by Wirral Borough council).
I have contacted the council to extend it and it will cost me £300, the question i have is , is there a cheaper way to do it?
could i just go out there with a bag of cement and add on a small slope of my own to the existing kerb? (say 2 small slopes about a foot long each?).
or would i get into trouble???

please help.

thanks

  • If you add a slope with cement you will be affecting the gutter and water run-off... the Highways department can remove it and charge you for the work.
I found that a long piece of timber, about half the height of the kerb, enabled me to get on and off quite easily - and it lasted quite a while before it got nicked!
It was cheap enough to buy another tho.

Of course, now I have a Land Rover I can drive up any height of kerb without requiring the slope!

But illegal. --It is illgal to drive over a pavement that has not been adapted.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
