Hello. I've just noticed that a diamond is missing out of my engagement ring. Can I claim on my house insurance??????

If you have got accidental loss or have the ring covered individually on the policy then YES.
However, do check your excess amount, then go to a jewelers and ask how much it would be to have the diamond replaced.
I was in your position and it was cheaper not to claim on the insurance.0 -
I managed to successfully claim through the insurer for an engagement ring however I had the Accidental Loss cover. Check your policy and also do as horsechesnut advises. You may be able to replace the diamond for a cost less than the excess on your policy.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 1129 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!

Thank you. Just checked my policy and no accidental cover. Damn. I took the policy out in 2002 when I was only 19. Will have to take it to the jewellers and try and find out how much it will cost.
Thanks Kat x0 -
Kat - when you next see the jeweller ask him to check the claws on your other diamond too. Best to get them checked annually anyway.0

If it is a relatively new ring and you have not abused it the diamond should not have fallen out and the jeweller who sold it may have to help- either under a warranty or under the lasting a reasonable length of time clause of fit for the purpose- sorry I can't remember the exact terms it is on this site somewhere. Worth a try anyway! But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
