Wedding dress through the post

Is there anyone that can advise me on how to send a dress through the royal mail? I know which service i will be using, special delivery next day, but i wondered how on earth do i package it! Is there a place i could get a box big enough for it that is suitable for the postal system?
I have read about tissue paper, bubble wrap and seen places that do wedding dress boxes which seem to be overpriced.
Has anyone used the Johnsons the dry cleaners service, the use a presentation box and i wondered if that would be a suitable box.
Any ideas would be very welcome.
Thanks:A

Hi
I got my dress off ebay and I was very pleased with the way it arrived. It was just in a plastic protective cover which must have come when she bought the dress. Then she simply put a plastic bag round it, folded it up and wrapped it in brown paper.
There was no damage at all to the paper and the dress was fine - a couple of creases but they dropped out once it had been hung for a couple of hours.
Hope this is of some help.

i got my dress from littlewoods, and it came in a dress protector then covered with a clear plastic bag - so even if you bought a dress protector (like the one suits come in when they have been dry cleaned) and packaged it in a bin liner / clear bin liner i think that would be grand!!

I don't think it matters how you send it, but i would make sure that you insure it adequetly - ask at the office for advice. Its probably best to send it on some kind of tracked delivery too, especially if the worst happens it might make it easier to find, not to mention less stress as you can see where it is.Had a thrifty wedding 17-06-10
