Disc Drive drawer not closing with keyboard prompt.....help?

Can anyone with some knowledge of computers give me some help. Until recently we could close the disc drawers on our tower by using a key on the keyboard as well as manually (but this meant phsyically pushing the drawer to close it and there is a risk of knackering it by doing it this way). However, now that has stopped working and we can't find anything in the programme files to rectify this. This happened once before when the computer was in warrenty and we phoned through to the helpline and was guided through the process to sort this. Can't remember what we did though. Any help/advice most welcome. Thanks.
