Public Liability?

Hi

I was recently injured at work by a large trailer caravan.

I've only lived in the UK a short while so am not familar with 'public liability' insurance which companies pay for.

After the accident I experienced pain. The company I worked for (was an agency) took details to provide to their insurance company. My Manager advised it was likely I'd recieve a payout for the accident through one of the company's insurance policies.

Does anyone know which policy this is? Have I got the name right in calling it 'Public Liability'?

I wasn't really phased whether I recieved anything or not but the company said I may as well seeing as they pay for the insurance.

I'm now on holiday overseas but prior to leaving I hadn't heard anything or recieved anything in the post.

Anyone able to shed light to a newbie?

Thanks in advance:beer:

    * I doubt that. Its more likely to be for their accident book.

** The manager of the agency? or the manager where you were working?

Whose trailer caravan was it? Whose property was it on? What were you doing there? How did it injure you? Who was driving/moving it at the time/& who were they employed by?

& if your suing your Employers its Employers Liability Insurance.

A report was filled out for the accident book also, yes. But the words from the company themselves were that there was a form of insurance that could be claimed on ie. not sueing my employers at all (nor would I want to).

It was my Manager at the agency.

The trailer caravan belonged to the Agency and was on a public road at the time of the incident. We turned down a wrong street and had to de-attach the trailer from the van and manually move it around due to it's size then re-attach before driving off. During the move it squashed me between a lamp post and the trailer itself. We were all working for the agency.
When I say agency, it's not normal agency work where you might work for say, A legal firm yet be paid by 'ABC Temp Staff'. We are paid by the agency directly and all our contact is with them.

As mentioned, I'm more curious than anything.
  • In that case its "Employers Liability" & you should ask them for a claim form or telephone number of the insurance company so you can contact them directly.
