GoToMyPC.com - any better alternatives?

Hi folks,

I occasionally need to get remote access to my home PC from my laptop. GoToMyPC seem to offer just what I need, but are there any alternative suppliers or solutions, before I sign up?

BTW If there is another person at the remote end, a great free programme is Teamviewer which is fab for helping someone else out - by far the easiest of this type of programme I've used (my Mum needs a lot of support ).

Depends where you wish to access it from. Many companies block log me in, but I've never had a prob with gotomypc

Have you tried teamviewer? I cant supply the link now cos I'm at work. I used it to access and clean a friends pc and installed MBAM and avira from my end.

I'll give logmein a shot, but Teamviewer looks like it could be ideal for helping my folks out with their occasional issues...

The FREE version works well and have used for 12 months or so.

I use RealVNC (http://www.realvnc.com/). It's pretty good and most importantly it's free.

UltraVNC is more secure and less likley to be hacked than realVNC.

But that is what I use. Security wise you need to be on the ball, a VPN is the best solution with a client on the laptop it prevents others getting access but config if your not sure could be difficult. haveing a static IP address will help but there are DNS forwarders available like no-ip.com.

Another free option would be Crossloop. I use this for remote support, it's secure and easy.
