Which 22-24" LCD monitor to buy?

I just wondered if anyone can recommend a decent PC monitor (or any good review websites)? There seem to be so many on the market that I don't know where to begin!

I'm thinking of getting a fairly large one - maybe 22 to 24 inches, and I'd want the image to be of a decent quality as I will be using it a lot! I mainly use office applications, with a bit of photo editing, and a bit of gaming (I never used to play games at all, but I've just discovered Trackmania, which is free - very money-saving!)

Also, is it possible to connect a monitor via both VGA and DVI connections and switch between them? At the moment I have four PCs connected to a KVM switch, into which my existing monitor is connected via a VGA socket. Would it be possible to connect the new monitor to the VGA socket on the KVM and to the DVI socket on my main PC? It would be a shame to get a really good monitor but not be able to see it at its best.

Oh, and two or three of my PCs have old 733 to 1000MHz CPUs with onboard graphics... will I be able to even see a low-res image with such a large monitor?

Thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions!

All monitors that offer both VGA and DVI can switch between the inputs, some have a dedicated button on the fascia, others you have to go through the menus. I've run several Iiyama monitors like this, hit the Input button and the display switches to the other source.

There were some good comparative reviews in PC Pro recently, might be the current issue, I'm not sure, they did a big test, maybe have a look on their website.

If you are doing photo-editing in a professional capacity, then you'll want a monitor which has accurate colour fidelity.

    HTH.

That is fantastic news! I thought I'd be stuck with the VGA connection!

I had a look at the PC Pro website, and the Samsung SyncMaster T240 looks like the best of the bunch, but it sounds like there were a few issues with the contrast... Definitely one for the "possibles" list, though!
    Thanks, isofa.
