Natwest Credit Card

I recently was awarded £88 from Natwest in relation to charges on my credit card. I assumed I would recieved this directly into my stated account but as I still owe money on the credit card they have actually just took the £88 from what I owe. I understand some people have been given the choice of whether they want the money directly or taking of an outstanding balance. Has anyone else had the same issue or have Natwest been correct in what they have done?

It seems the right thing to do to me. They took money from your account as a charge now they refund the charge to your account. Quits.
