  • if you want to buy a pretty computer, buy a mac.
    as desktop PCs go, that's a £400 or less machine...for a grand.
it even can't handle any games more complex than solitaire...it's basically lower specifications than many laptops ~£400 but with a bigger screen :(

Your existing Windows software won't run on a Mac (unless you install Windows on it), so if you're hoping to use it all with your new computer, you would be out of luck.

However, there is the free OpenOffice for the Mac which does a lot of the stuff Microsoft Office does, and your new Mac would come with iPhoto (along with the rest of the iLife suite), which is great for organising and editing photos. If you want a bit more editing ability, you can pick up a copy of Photoshop Elements for about £50, or you can use the GIMP, which is free.

If you want a computer that's beautiful, easy to use, comes with the world's most advanced operating system and suite of applications the like of which doesn't even exist for Windows and is also immune to practically all of the nasty malware and viruses that plague Windows users daily, then get a Mac.

If you want to play games and don't mind putting up with Windows to do it, then buy a PC.
