Travel Lodge or Strand Palace, I've stayed in both and good value for money.0

We have just come back from the Travelodge Drury Lane. We had a special cheap deal but even so it was very well positioned for easy walking distance of CG and I would consider using the hotel again at full price - so long as I was going to use a family room and fill it with the four of us.
I would also recommend from personal experience the Cavendish on Jermyn Street, where I stayed as part of a couple, but it is just the other side of Piccadilly so not so close for going home after an evening at Covent Garden (and not cheap - we paid £120 for the room inc breakfast for two). We used the tube once the crowds died down from CG to Piccadilly for that one. Muffins and smoked salmon on special order for breakfast were lovely.0
