Toshiba Tecra S1 Screen Problem, help!!!

I have this problem with my laptop it all started with my screen acting up with it going sometimes black and other times general screen distortion with lines screwing up the image, however it did it on and off sometimes it was fine other times it was not now after going through the internet and seeing things like memory issues i pulled the memory out and cheched it over and it seemed fine however i do get the bios beeping code which is 2 short beeps, 1 long beep pause then 3 short beeps this does seem to be a reoccuring problem with this type of laptop, alos my friend the same problem and the same laptop sent it off to toshiba came back and it was "a wiring problem from the main part to the sceen" he had his under the warrenty i do not though and if this is the cause any idea of cost?? thanks to all in advace

I don't have direct experience of Toshiba, but in general, getting a laptop repaired out of warranty by the manufacturer is extortionately expensive. Essentially they would much rather you throw it away and buy another, and so price accordingly. I doubt anyone could give you a realistic estimate of cost - if it's just a connecting wire to be replaced it could be quite cheap, if the motherboard or screen (or both) then it's probably not worth considering having done.

~However~, if you bought it new, you probably have a right under the Sale of Goods Act to have it repaired free, even if it is out of warranty. Do you know how old it is, and do you have the original receipt for it?

im not sure about the recipt but its about 3 years old if i have the recipt who do i go through becuase i bought it from pcworld? ps thanks for a speedy reply
