Part Time to Full Time in new job...TAX and NI?

I left my part time job end of January 2009 (£4k per annum) to take up a full tiem job starting February 2nd 2009 earning around £18k. When I handed over my P45 I was led to believe my first wage packet would be a "good" one....do I get taxed differently having been under the threshold for a year or so? And will my first pay be a good one?

Thanks for any info in advance!

Yes, if you have only earned £4k so far this tax year, you have £2035 unused allowances for the rest of this tax year. It looks as if your pay from your new job will be £3k to the end of this year, so you will only pay about £193 tax from now until 5 April.
