Halifax Missing Statements

Hi all

My Partner and I both have Halifax credit cards. all was fine untill we decided to set up A d/d on each card for the minimum payment. I have received my statements and it shows that a d/d has been setup, however my partner has not had a statement for two months since she set up her d/d. Halifax has sent a letter confirming that the d/d has been set up but we have been in contact with Halifax to ask where the statements have been going only to find out that my partner now has two missed payments and two late payment fees added to her account. I have a Manager calling me tomorrow as apparently their was no supervisor or Manager at Halifax when we called! and the lady on the phone was on overtime and couldn't answer any of my questions!!

Has anyone else had a similar problem with Halifax regarding missing statements?

That was my fault, a lot of personal issues going on and I didn't check the Bank ac statements properly.

When making anything other than routine enquiries, it's best to phone during normal business hours. That way, you're more likely to be speaking to someone who knows what they're doing

If the card is in your partner's name, they will not discuss her account with you.

we both work so contact on the home phone (which is the number they request she rings from) can only be made after 6 pm.

If she tells them to deal with me they do have to, as do most including HMRC etc. just so long as she has passed the security checks they do on the phone.

  • How did you set up the d/d? If you did it online, they are very keen nowadays to get you onto paperless statements (ie online only), so possibly if you didn't untick the appropriate box you may find that's what happened, and why you don't get paper statements any more. Don't know why the d/d didn't go through though, unless it had the wrong reference and is paying onto someone else's account by mistake?

Also, I've never heard of you having to ring from your home phone before, so long as you can pass the security checks the phone is irrelevant, surely? I ring c/c companies from work all the time.

The DD was set up over the phone and my Partner was told that she did not need to worry about future payments as the DD would cover the minimum payment. The confirmation letter said that the confirmation that the DD was in force and if it applied to the next statement it would show on her next statement, but the statements never arrived and despite requesting copies still haven't arrived. Halifax called her Yesterday (Sunday) and have no record of any previous conversations with my partner or me! they do , however, have a record of the set up of the DD but have said that it takes six weeks to set up!! I think not!! Set up of DD's even by post only take 4 days! I have re-requested a Manager to contact us this evening!

    Just an update.

A manager called and reviewed the previous calls from Halifax and agreed that there were a number of errors on the part of the people we had spoken to. He apologised and removed the late payment fees.

All in all well worth the time and effort.:j
