Will the price of televisions go up?

I saw :A Martin Lewis :A on television the other day, warning everybody that because of the fall in the value of the £ everything on holiday abroad will now cost more.

He said to add 50% to what things cost last year. My goodness, that's a lot!

Does this mean that imported Techie things like televisions and computers are now going to cost more, as well?

Because people on here keep saying to wait for prices to drop before buying anything. Is that right? Why will that happen?

The thing I can't understand is why the £ has fallen so much against the € if it's all because of the "global financial downturn", as people keep telling us.

I mean, if it's a global problem, why does it affect the £ more than the € ?

Why has that caused the £ to fall so much in value against the € ?

Are those Pesetas that I brought back from Benidorm a few years ago still kosher? Will they buy me a beer in Magaluf next summer if £10 won't. Or should I buy my new Sky box with those, instead? (Does Sky take Pesetas? They're the ones with General Franco on them.)

Could someone kind here explain it to me? I find it all very confusing!

Thank you. :heartpuls

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

It must have been more than "a few years ago". Pesatas are no longer accepted as legal tender in spain.

  • I missed that one going (put in my 2 pennorth and turned off the PC)...did it all kick off with the usual numptie comments comparing uk prices with those of other countries, without any regard for taxation (both direct and indirect) in each country or the relative strengh of the respective economies, or avarage earning....etc...?

I think someone should start a "I'm ignorant, but it's just not fair" thread.?!

I definitely felt the pinch while I was in the US last. My XBox 360 cost me about £220; 6 months previously, it would have cost me £150. I'm moving there in a few months time, so it's not a good thing for me. I have to seriously revise my budget for buying a car etc what with the pound being so low. The whole thing is going to cost me quite a lot more than I had originally planned.

I'm disappointed the other thread vanished into thin air. I did spend some time on my response in it, which then turned out to be a total waste. Are the moderators now editors too?

    Pretty lame really.
