Company CC Amex - Will it help my appaling credit rating?

I've just started a new job and they offer an Amex credit card through the company but in my name. I have appalling credit history (when i was young and burying my head in the sand) and was wondering if getting this card (my boss issues them so not sure how eligable i am for it, Shhhhh!!) spending a little each month and paying it off in full would help my credit rating? Thanks

I doubt it, as the actual account holder is your company and they are just getting an additional card on the account.

It is not the same as if the card was actually yours or issued on your other half's acoount.

I suspect it depends who is responsible for the bills. If you have to pay the bill and then claim anything relevant on expenses, then it may help. If the company pays the bill, it probably won't.

However, if you're responsible for the bill, the credit card company might decline to provide the card, I guess.

You could always apply and, assuming you get it, use the card for 3 months, then check your credit report with experian and see if it's listed in the credit agreement section? If it's there, it's helping. If it's not, you'd be better getting a credit builder card and using that instead.

I have a corporate card and I have to claim the expenses back which are then paid into my bank account. I then pay the card when I receive the bill in the post.

The card has no reference in my credit report.. at all... not even a search.
  • Thanks All,
The card is paid by me, every six weeks i must pay it off in full (so im told and i wouldnt do anything else) so will ask more questions and hopefully this will help.

Any extra advice on top of the ones i recieved will be greatly appreciated. thanks
