turned down for credit cards.electrol roll?

i have just tried applying for 2 credit cards and been turned down for both.
i logged into my credit report and the only thing there is that im not on the electrol roll. although on another section it says i am.
i went off to uni last year but am back home now. could it be that? also il only have been on the electrol roll 2 years, as im 20 now. and been living at home since i was 3. so obviously my records on the electrol roll wont add up with how long iv been living at my address!
what should i do?!

It's normal for 20 year olds only to be on the electoral roll for 2 years.
being on the electoral roll is important but so is employment, income and other debts.
As a student you can be on the electoral roll both at your home and your student address. Check whether you are on the roll at home with the council... normally one's parents would include you in the annual roll update.

im on the one for my home address.
have a steady income etc. and no debts.
do u think its worth applying for somewhere else?

If you don't already have a CC then there are hard to get becaue you will have no record of repaying...
so best to try your own bank who will know how you handle your a/c with them.

tried that, got turned down!even went in to do it with them.

Try a Student Barclaycard, the limit is fairly low but great to build up a credit rating
