face - oil control....

can anyone suggest any product i can get from boots (not much over £10) which will stop my face sweating? i have low blood sugar and it causes my face to sweat buckets (eurghghgh) so foundation doesnt really stay on that long - i have a christening coming up soon and want to look my best....

OC8 oil control genius is a product that is highly recommended from a magazine that I have brought, I wouldn't say that it worked for the full eight hours as stated but it is one of the better one's that I have tried. If I remember correctly it was about £10ish.
I also like to use No7's shine free makeup base a very mattifing poduct also about £10ish.
They are both from Boots the chemist.
Hope this is of help to you.

I agree with sarahcc. OC8 oil control genius is pretty good. You can request a free sample from here.

  • Hi, I also use OC8 in the summer, usually gives me 4 or so shine free hours!

Sometimes it's difficult to find in Boots, not always with the rest of the mainstream moisturisers, best to ask if you can't find it.

Would a powder foundation stay on any better than a liquid one? I use clinique stay matte pressed powder (yes i know it's stupidly expensive (£18ish?), but i only buy at 'bonus time' and sell the freebies on ebay to cover the costs of at least one purchase!) and it reduces the shine and can be reapplied during the day.
it's also one of the very few brands that doesn't make my face erupt!

You could try Papier Poudre which they sell in Body Shop (cant remember how much but it is cheap). It's fine paper with a layer of fine powder on it which you use to blot your face.

But if the OP is anything like me, then you will get through a pack of that a day

Superdrug do their own version at £1.29 a pack, Body Shop's is £3.50. it is good for emergency touch-ups, but not for long term shine-freeness (??)

but thats the prob, with this condition you tend to have very dry, flaky skin, but it just looks shiny all the time due to the sweat.

I think the prob is, most anti-shine products are designed to soak up oil on the skin, so they arent ever going to work on someone who is sweaty

I know it paints a lovely picture doesnt it, very attractive, not! :o
