Does anyone know.....?

Last year my hubby and were lucky enough to go up to Scotland for a couple of days. We spent a day and night on Mull (running over the mountains) then a night in Oban while we recovered. On our way home we drove a few miles out of Oban and stopped for some breakfast at a large restaurant/cafe at the side of the road (on the left). It was (from memory) a barn conversion with a big blue sign outside saying 'Breakfasts from £5'.

anyway... the place was awful, they had no food left and the waiter was a waste of time so we got our things and left without eating....I was STARVING, aching, upset and fed up.

..... we drove a very short distance down the road and stopped at a little pub/B&B/hotel, again on the left. Even though it was almost lunchtime they said that they would still serve us a breakfast and it was truly THE BEST FOOD IN THE ENTIRE WORLD... my mouth is watering as I think of it.

I so want to write to the proprietors and thank them for cheering up two tired, aching English folk.

Does anyone have any idea what the little place is called? The restaurant looks out over Loch Lomond and the car park is on the waters edge. It had a car park on both sides of the road I think and it was quite small and old fashioned inside.

TIA :)

Was the large barn type place at Loch Lomond called MacGregor's Landing or something of that ilk? If so, the hotel or B&B could have been the Ardlui Hotel? http://www.ardluihotel.com/index.htm Not many places on the left hand side of Loch Lomond as you travel south. Hope this helps.

  • I've been to the Drovers lots of times..... unforgettable........and the food is great.
  • Fine place for a meal-try the steak and guinness pie-delicious. Great chips as well. And the music is usually a cut above your average Muzak. Watch out for the stuffed bear in the foyer. VERY popular at weekends!! (Not the bear.......the Drover's!!)
