Egypt, Sharm el sheik

I have a couple of questions regarding the above destination.

We have found a reasonably priced holiday easter week at an all inclusive hotel which has fairly good reviews on the likes of tripadvisor and holidays uncovered. What I would like to know is :

1) What is the weather like in April?

2) How far is Sharm el sheik in relation to any of the sight seeing destinations?

4) What is the security situation like at the minute?

Anything else I may need to know?

I'll get me coat!

Hi Pete, I love Sharm. It will be hot during the day and possibly a little chilly at night. All hotels have tourist police and prevent vehicles driving to the door. Security is very tight everywhere. The food will be good. Choose hotel carefully as this can make all the difference to your stay. All the hotels are new. Sophistica

    HI Pete
I forgot to mention about the can go to Cairo but it is a very long journey and Luxor is way too far. The only real sight is St Catherines Monastery and some guide companies do Petra...the best things to do in Sharm are snorkelling, dving and sunbathing. Sophistica

    Hi Pete
I have also booked for beginning of April - and like you checked Tripadvisor for reviews but also asked friends who had visited previously. In the end I went for a top rated Hotel just B&B but in a central location so we could go out in the evening to eat as I hear the restaurants are very good. Some of the Hotels are a bus ride out of Sharm and seem to have you as a captive audience - drinks can be expensive.

Best deal I got - once I chose the Hotel was with Direct Holidays online for the Jolie Ville Movenpick Resort & casino. I phoned later to request the beachside part of the hotel and they were very helpful. Also said we would just get a cab from the airport (approx £5) instead of sitting on a bus whilst it drops off at numerous points.
Whatever you decide have a great time!
