DVD free p&p

Can you please let me know how this free P&p on a DVD works, I dont understand the fact that if you give free P&P and only charge say 99p how you make any profit!!! Do you add an extra amount on to the starting price of the DVD. Thank you and sorry if Im asking the obvious.

The days of 99p DVD's are coming to an end, you simply load the P&P element, and the cost of the increased fees into the starting price.

You may think it will give others an advantage, but either they will all be doing it themselves or they'll lose money and have to join in with everyone else, or shut up shop.

Remember though that it is not possible to combine postage automatically if free P&P is offered, and many DVD sellers are already reporting increased revenues as buyers are now having to spend more.

Hardly an improvement to the buying experience...

As long as buyers THINK they're getting a better deal and the revenue has increased... ebay will call it a resounding success.

That's interesting, sellers on the community boards were saying they weren't able to list and add any UK postage. .I'd have thought it was all rolled out by now as well, or maybe they changed their mind about Blu Ray?

I just tried it myself, as the main category is still DVD it does not alllow any UK postage to be added, so not sure how you managed that.

Also if you do a search in DVD for blu ray working from 'recently listed' there isn't one single item with postage showing. Are you sure you put it in the correct category?

pretty sure (its dvd>other format) - there is a new thing where it will only allow postage up to £4 though (i've noticed a limit on books/magazines i've relisted recently too)
  • Funny enough, i spoke with a woman on Ebay about the free postage a while back and stated that Ebay stand to make much more money from fees now as postage was tax free, she stuttered and quickly changed the subject.
