I knew things were going to well.
Yesterday evening I returned home to find a postcard with a printed message asking me to "call Helen urgently on ....". In tiny writing there is a registered address for Link Financial.
I'm pretty sure that this is for one of my debts on my DMP (because the address on this card is mis-spelled in the same way as the creditor). I guess this means that Capital One have sold on my debt. I'm a bit confused about this, because on 2 September 2008, Capital One agreed to a reduced payment for 12 months. They also sent me a default notice on the same day.
I thought I'd be OK for another couple of months.
I really don't want to ring this company because I'd much rather do everything in writing. I did try to call them when I got home from work but they were closed. Would it be OK for me to send a letter saying that because of my working hours and they're opening hours, I'm unable to call them and to ask for correspondence in writing?
I'd be grateful for your help and advice.

Hi milliejon
I would definetly write to them. After all you dont know who they actually are or what its about. After watching watch dog last night I found out that they are obliged to make it absolutely clear why they are contacting you.
After all you could be phoning them and giving them personal info - so defo write to them. You dont deserve to be bullied and this is the tactics that a few dcc use.
Good luck

You dont have to use working hours as an excuse. Just write & tell them that any dealings have to be in writing.
Dont call them, they will try & bully you & say anything they please if they think there is no record.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0 -
Watchdog should be on the BBC Iplayer, watch it and see just what they can and cannot do, deffo do not phone them, ask for all contact to be in writing only........if they do phone you can report them for harrassment for not adhering to your request. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0

Thank you so much everyone. I did catch Watchdog, but thought that because I know this is about one of my debts I should ring them. I think I'll draft a note to send today.

Is the following enough? Too abrupt?
On 2 February 2009, I received a postcard from you asking me to call you urgently on the telephone. As I am not aware of your company or why you might be asking me to contact you, I would prefer to communicate in writing.
Therefore, I would be grateful if you could write to me at the above address.DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0 -

My OH is having probs with Link Financial too - they bought his info from Ford Credit when he handed his car back. They are a**holes to him -he had paid enough under his agreement to hand the car back and not owe anything and has letters from Ford confirming this - but no matter how many times we phone/fax/write to them with this info they don't acknowledge it and won't remove the default on his credit file. So definitely do everything recorded delivery and don't waste your time calling them - they won't act on it. Good luck getting it sorted"I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."
