Buyer has become a non-registered member

Hi,
I sold an item over the weekend, which has been paid for by paypal. However within a few hours the person was classed as no longer a registered user. It wasn't an expensive item but would like some clarification. Not sure whether to send item or just refund via paypal and relist?

Comments

  • Refund is likely to be the safest way... this is factored up the more expensive the item is!
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • I have had this before people shut their accounts down all the time or get suspended over stupid things,
as long as you send the item trackable then you ok
as it's still a ebay sale even though she is NLRU
so if she puts in a claim with PP you will have proof of sending
i'd just send it, and as u said it's not a high priced item so it's not like she could be a scammer anyway.
if you relist the item you will have to pay sellers fees again.

just send her quick email asking her why she's no longer a user and does she still want the item.
  • Think I will just send the item then anyway, don't want to pay double the fees to relist! Have emailed but no response as yet
  • Hope they haven't been suspended for fraud.

  • Hi
    Strange!

Something similar happened to me on Friday. The buyer seemed to be classed as no longer registered within 30 minutes of the purchase but the money was in my Paypal account. As I have had money taken back out of my paypal account on a previous occasion - (different scenario) I contacted E-bay. and the answer see below .. On reading it again ...does it make sense? Anyway I did post the item today and have proof of postage so here's hoping!

    "Hello,

Thank you for writing to eBay. I understand that you want to know what
to do if the buyer is no longer registered. I appreciate the chance in
    assisting you with this.

I have checked our database and can confirm that the buyer of this item
is no longer registered on the site. I would like to inform that there
is nothing to worry about regarding this transaction as it goes smoothly
even the situation is like this
. However, for your reference, I would
like to inform that we consider the transaction as outside of eBay. If
in the future that you'll encounter the same problem, I advice not to
continue on the transaction as you are not covered by any protection
program or the feedback system. For more information regarding trading
outside of eBay, you may copy the link I have provided for you below:

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/tp/isgw-fraud-non-ebay.html

For your reference, I would like to inform that you can open an unpaid
item case in order to claim back your Final Value Fee if you have
decided not to continue on the transaction. You must do this within 45
days from the end of the listing. As the buyer is no longer a registered
member, the case is closed immediately and the Final Value Fee is added
to your seller account as a credit. For more detailed information on
unpaid item cases, and links to the Resolution Centre, copy this link
    into a new browser window:

  • deleted - oops, didn't see new posts
  • Will wait another day or so for a reply from the buyer, was worried about paypal refunding them after i'd sent item. That message from Ebay doesn't seem very helpful

This happened to me recently and I certainly wouldn't send the item. Around 10 days after the person bid the money was recalled by the buyer's bank.
Mine wasn't an expensive item either. Paypal can still recall the money after you've sent the item.
