Egg insurance 25% off critical illness cover

I've had an email from Egg to say that if you apply online they give a 25% discount on their life and critical illness insurance.

I'm not sure what their rates are like, but it may be worth checking out if you are looking for this type of cover for yourself.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I did a quote check and even with their discount, they could be beaten by IFAs taking full commission, let alone on discounted terms.

For reference, on those responding to the quote request, Prudential came 29th. The Egg policy is underwritten by Pru. Its a case where the discount headline looks good but the gross premium to begin with it one of the highest.

Pru are also known for their extremely poor handling of life assurance applications.

edit: even worse, the egg policy is not guaranteed premiums but reviewable. Guaranteed premiums were available cheaper than Eggs reviewable.

Try Cavendish Online, there even cheaper and you will avoid letting your IFA make £500 from the policy.

Assuming the IFA gets £500 from it. For reference, on nil commission terms, IFAs can beat Cavendish. So, if you have a family IFA, you will often get better terms as the IFAs tend to discount when doing a range of things across families.
