The Post Office Telephone reconnection

Hi
I am having a dliemma to which I cannot seem to find answers to. I am moving and need to reconnect a phone line in my new property. BT have offered to do it for £29.30 but I am tied for 18 months which is way too long. The Post Office will reconnect me for £107.00 with no tie in contract. This will cost me £10.70 per month for line rental. My question is: does anyone out there pay the Post Office for their line rental and if so can you use an override provider such as 1899.com? The Post Office couldn't tell me.
