eBay Amazon Re-Seller Trouble.

A few weeks ago i bought two books via Buy-It-Now from a seller. She claimed to have the books in stock and would post them the next day. She billed separately for postage which i thought was odd, but didn't say anything at the time.

A few days later we receive a card saying a package has been delivered, but we weren't in and we had to pick it up from the courier. We assumed it was our books and went to collect them.

It was one of the books direct from Amazon. So basically she charged us an extra £4 per book on top of the Amazon price and just put our address as a delivery address. Not a bad profit for clicking a few buttons!

Anyway, the second book never arrived. I sent her a message yesterday and she says her Amazon receipt claims it was delivered the same day as the first. I'm going to ring the courier and see if they still have it and never dropped a card in or something, but i'm not holding my breath.

If they don't have it, what shall i do? Is it up to me to get a refund from her or from Amazon?

Open up an "item not received" dispute. It's up to her to sort it out with amazon.

In future, check amazon prices too before buying from ebay!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • I will definitely do that in future! Thanks for the advice.

    was it 2 seperate auctions?
  • Yes it was.

She says they've both seen signed for, so i've asked her for shipping numbers and the like so i can contact the courier (City Link) and find out who signed for it.

I don't think that Amazon sellers are obliged to combine postage, although most respectable sellers would. If the sorting office don't have it, and as long as no one has signed for it, then you can certainly claim it as missing from Amazon and you should get a refund.

well if it is 2 auctions but the seller can only supply one item number wouldnt that losr a pp claim?
  • It was 2 separate auctions so she's not obliged to combine postage - even though postage on items over £6 is free from Amazon - so she's just maximising profit.

Anyway, the problem appears to be solved now. She's just emailed back saying she's traced it through and the package was signed for by our neighbours a couple of weeks ago...

We'll go round to ask them tonight.

thats good but my point was by not combining postage you should have got 2 sperate packages thus the one tracking number wouldnt have been enough if you had to claim for one item being a no show

That is a bit cheeky plus they are not covering themselves in an event of a claim.
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
