Halfords 'Night Before' Deicer

Bought some of this at the weekend. Tried it for the first time last night.
I shook the bottle before use, as instructed, and generously sprayed both the front and rear windscreens, and the side windows, as instructed. Got up this morning, went out to the car - all the windows were thick with ice. Seems a completely useless product to me.

Probably just the same as modern conventional de-icers, totally useless. I have even used de-icers which have immediately frozen on top of the existing ice!
I blame the eco nazis because the older formulations are probably no longer "allowed"!0 -
I have no problems with the conventional de-icers that you spray on when the car is iced-up, it's just this 'night before' stuff that seems useless."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

I use a 'pre-icer' from wilkinsons the night before and it works fine. The windows are still icy however a couple of swishes of the windscreen wipers and it brushes off. It seems it still ices up but just doesn't stick to the windscreen and need removing with water/de-icer, so a whole lot quicker to deal with.
The only time it doesn't work is when it rains or heavy mist (or anything wet) overnight after I've sprayed it on the windows, as this seems to dilute it or wash it off and it doesn't do the job, but this is understandable.
Maybe the one from Halfords is just rubbish. Or maybe it got washed off in some rain?0 -

did it rain last night, it could have washed off0 -
My OH always takes a bottle of tap water out with him in the morning and chucks it over the windscreen. Couple swishes of the wipers and job done. I have always found de-icer to be rubbish and a waste of money when you can just use water.0

Nope, no rain last night around my place - it was clear and FROSTY!
I've had more success with a piece of cardboard held down by the windscreen wipers. The windscreen was well iced up - it needed a lot scraping to get the ice off."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
