What exactly is your current set up?
If your JVC system is an integrated DVD player/speaker setup then you probably won't be able to just swap out the DVD player part for a blu-ray player, but may need to either get a blu-ray system with it's own speakers or a separate speaker setup in addition to the new player.

If you've already got a separate set of speakers (ie the amp is seperate from the DVD player), then from what i understand you should be able to plug the the blu-ray player in instead of the DVD player using the same connection to the amp for the speakers (assuming the surround sound amp has digital inputs).

    [edit]
Either way, assuming your TV has a hdmi input no matter what you should get at the minimum stereo sound via the TV's own speakers.

U can connect the blue-ray straight to your TV via HDMI....
conect the blue-ray to the cinema system via an Optical Audio Cable....
flick it on... you'll have sound!!

Thats the easiest way possible... but it means keeping your dvd part of the cinema system.... not such a bad thing though?

A Blu Ray player will do everything a standard DVD player will do, and more besides. You shouldn't have any issues with audio output.

What specifically were you worried about?

I think (If I have this right), the OP has a dvd av system (dvd player with sound system built in). So theyre after a bluray player equivalent (I assume)
