OK I can do CDs to ipod- easy peasy! I also understand that this is OK legally as I own the CD and am only "making a back up" copy.
DVD to ipod I can't do, I tried handbrake, but obviously the DRMS stuff is stopping it ripping. We aren't talking high end movies- the stuff you get free with the paper etc wont rip either!
I do have an archive of recorded TV as dvr-ms files (what ever they are) but converting them to ipod format doesn't seem a gooer either (they are huge files though and the free thing I tried just crashed after an hour or so trying to convert).
Can ayone help?

Firstly you need to convert them to a format that the ipod can understand and the right resolution. Windows Media player should be able to convert the dvr-ms to AVI, and then use an avi to mpeg4 converter to get it onto the ipod0

To convert DVDs you first need to remove the DRM using a decrypter, for example DVDShrink or DVDFab 5, then use Handbrake to convert this file. Works for me!0
