Samsung TV problem - the screen has gone green...

Hi there,
We have a 3 year old Samsung 26 inch CRT TV (it's not LCD or HD or anything special). Yesterday the screen decided to show everything in a green tint. I looked at the colour settings to see if there was an obvious problem and there wasn't.
I tried it again this morning and now the screen flashes red and slowly "goes through all the colours/tints until it is back at green". I hope you know what I mean (I'm sure I could describe this better.....). When it has settled at green again, it flashes red and starts over.
I hope someone might be able to suggest something to me. Does anyone know if this is something I can rectify? Is it a common problem with Samsung TVs? Is it knackered and I need a new one?
Thanks in advance if anyone can help!

There is no excuse for rudeness. Ignorance on the other hand is excusable – you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Sounds to me like the tube has gone, almost identical to when my Toshiba gave up a few years ago.0

Is there anything large & magnetic anywhere around it - an unshielded louspeaker, for example? If so, move it away and see if that fixes it.
Otherwise, I'd say you're in the market for a new TV.0 -

Thanks both.
I've got 2 speakers next to it, they've been there for about 2 years and claim to be EMC protected... I'll move them and see if it makes a difference though.
I think I'll have to get a new one. I haven't a clue about current LCD HDTVs, is it worth getting one of these or will something newer with better technology be along soon? There is no excuse for rudeness. Ignorance on the other hand is excusable – you don’t know what you’re talking about.0 -

It's a bad connection. Are you viewing via a scart plug (sat/freeview/stb)
The voltages in TV are LETHAL, 30,000 volts. A TV engineer would find and reseat the tube connector and any other plugs/connectors.
Plasma is the way forward just look at the Pioneer/Panasonic range.0 -
Its knackered. If it was bad connection, it would simply stay green or whatever. Time for a new tv (And id suggest buying one now before they start going up in price again)
Richer sounds would be a good place to start:idea:0
