Will EA allow kitchen planners access?

The bungalow we have put an offer on literally has 'no kitchen' which has been accepted. The kitchen is described as...

'Double base unit with stainless steel sink and hot & cold taps'.

To minimise the time that we'd be living in the house without a useable kitchen or any cooking facilities, can I get a kitchen planner to visit the property prior to us completing? The bungalow is an empty property which the EA had to accompany us to be able to view.

Even if we could get one accurate design we could use the measurements for on-line kitchen planning.

Any thoughts welcome.

  • Hi Jill,

As far as i know there is nothing stoppin you re-view the house before you complete BUT this is all dependent on how nice your EA is. Basically they would still have to accompany you and while they're out with you they're not selling another house and not making any money so the may be reluctant.

If you have a good relationship with them, or even if you dont best thing is to be honest and say you literally want 15 mins in the house, willing to meet them there when they are in the area and you understand that they are not obliged to do this but you greatly appreciate i.

Im not in Estate Agency but did a short stint some years back.

The agent should be fine, I've never know any tradesman be refused access to carry out quotes / estimates for a buyer.

Im sure the EA will be more than happy to let a kitchen planner visit the property, at the end of the day, the EA wants the sale to go through smoothly and without a kitchen in the property this is more than a reasonable request.

Perhaps when you speak to the EA have an idea how long the kitchen planners will need to be at the property, so that you can give the EA a good idea. More likely than not as the property is vacant (and presumably without any furnishings) the EA will give the kitchen planners the keys as is often the case when surveyors visit empty properties.
