Harveys offering discount to Land of Leather customers?

Hi there, apologies if this is in the wrong place, wasnt sure where to post.

Has anyone heard that Harveys are offering discounts to Land of Leather customers that have not got their goods?

Someone told me they had seen something about this in a newspaper but couldnt remember what it said so Im not sure what the deal is? Any ideas?

I bought two sofa's on 1st Jan from them, luckily paid by credit card, and then they obviously went into administration. Have rung all the relevant numbers etc to be told that we may still get the sofa, and it sounds as if it may be more hopeful since we paid the full balance. Not holding my breath though!

Obviously still waiting to see what is happening with our order, but would be interested if anyone knows anything about the Harveys offer in case we dont get ours in the end.

Thanks

  • Hi Yellowlablelady. Just joined on here and find your post very interesting! I have not heard anything about Harvey's offering discount to LOL customers but I will keep my eye out for this. I would like to share my experience though if I may. My boyfriend and I went through to one of the LOL stores on 2nd Jan after seeing a suite we liked on their website. Whilst in the store we were constantly followed round by one of the sales assistants. I understand they want the sale as their salaries will be comissioned based to top up their basic wage but this was getting silly in our opinion. We couldn't seem to get away. Anyway, we ended up going home and a couple of hours later, I paid the deposit via the internet with my debit card. We were told the suite would be delivered mid - end March which was fine with us. What has really annoyed us is that 10 days later this company went into administration and we are now left with not knowing if we will get our goods or not. I had a letter from the Administrators saying our suite is out of stock and they can't fulfil my order at this time. They said our deposit is save whatever happens. That is OK but why are LOL taking customer's orders and money knowing they can't fulfil the orders? In in letter they said I could ring the contact centre on 15th Jan and they would be able to tell me what is happening to my order. I did this and was told nothing I didn't already know. I then got another letter on Saturday saying the same thing! The inconvenience this is causing is unbelievable. I would like to just cancel this order but I will lose my deposit which is obviously not an option. I wonder how long are we going to wait until we know for definate what is happening??............

will lol be selling of the suites they have in store cheap
  • Thanks for that info LilacLillie, that's what I was after. For some stupid reason I never thought to look on Harveys website, lol!

Sarah0801, I agree totally with what you say about them selling products that they knew full well they wouldnt be able to supply and had the same conversation with my DH last night, really winds me up! Dont know how the SA's sleep at night knowing that (if they did know that is), I certainly dont think I could sell people something knowing I wouldnt be able to supply them with it!

For anyone else interested, here's a link to the website with some more info on what they are offering.

  • Having just read the offer they are basically offering LOL customers a percentage off a new order with Harveys and the more you spend, the greater the discount.

    There are 3 bands:

Spend up to £1000 and receive 15% discount

Spend between £1001 and £1500 and receive 17% discount

Spend between £1501 and £2000 and we will discount your new order with Harveys by 20% up to £400.

So, if like me, you werent wanting to spend that much on a sofa anyway, then its not much help. The total of my order was £599 so that wouldnt apply to me and Im not interested in spending a couple of grand on a sofa from Harveys tbh! But guess it may be some help to others who want to spend some more and I can see why Harveys are getting in on the act, with the mark up on their products, they can afford to appear to be benevolent and offer discounts whilst still coining it in! lol

On my letter from the administrators it does state that you arent allowed to cancel your order even though they have said they may not be able to fulfill the order until they have given you a definite answer. So not sure how this works with the Harveys thing? Guess will just have to wait to hear what is happening!

  • Thanks yellowlabellady for the link and quotes from Harvey's. I saw this yesterday and we too don't want to be spending upwards of £1000+ for a suite - our order was £699. besides, we can't afford to be spending any more! Just out of interest, I phoned the 'dedicated' call centre number AGAIN yesterday afternoon and as always they couln't tell me anything. All they say is I won't lose my deposit. On my letter it said I could ring and they would be able to tell me more - obviously not then! I will post again once I hear something from the administrators worth knowing......... Oh and by the way, I went on the LOL website where there is a link to more information and Q&A for more info - guess what - the link doesn't work!! I also reported this whilst on the phone and was told 'Oh well, try again later'! Some customer service.......

I'd be very nervous paying upfront for anything from Harveys at the moment. The future for all of these stores look very uncertain.
  • Thank you for the info Karen, apologies for misleading anyone with my post - I obviously misread the info in the first place, thanks for clearing that up.

My question is, as I said in my earlier post, I have been told that just because we have been told LOL cant fulfill the order at the moment does not give me the right to cancel my order until I have been told for definite they wont be able to supply my goods. In this instance, how could I (or anyone else as they will have been told the same) be able to take advantage of Harveys offer? I would not want to risk making an order with Harveys only to be told at a later date that my goods from LOL were available and end up spending double and with 2 sofa's on my hands?! Any advice?

    Thanks

I'm not a fan of Harveys.

My inlaws (not that I really get on with them!!) ordered a sideboard unit from Harveys and have since had to wait weeks for the first delivery - damaged. 2nd Unit - Damaged, 3rd Unit - Damaged, 4th ? they didn't even take it off the van! On them calling the store, all they have said is "Put it in writing" What a lot of *%£^£($^*(£!!!

Although I'm not really prepare to help them oover it though.

I also got banned from the local store when a few years ago we ordered some furniture, we were promised it in 6 weeks (and the sales assistant wrote it on the invoice) after 14 weeks I went in an demanded a refund. The manager came out and said he had to get authority from head office as he couldn't make that decision. I called him "A silly little man" and he went bright red infront of all the other staff and told me he would sort it out, the next day he called my wife, said the refund had been done and said to her:

Your husband is banned from the store forever for threatening him!

  • hi we ordered a suite from lol at begining of november. we then found out went into adminastration . we phoned helpline repeatedly and kept being told same thing our suite was not in stock . we paid in full in cash at time of order over 1000 pounds we were told that if we couuld not get our goods we would be able to pick something from stock with a huge discount . this however is not the case after being told a week ago we would get our order in 2 weeks we recieved a letter yesterday saying we paid in full in cash and they could not give us our order so to take the letter with a voucher of 577 pounds to lol wich we did what they said was we couldnt pick a suite to the same value and recieve our 577pound discount that even though we paid 1309pound we were only getting a voucher worth 577pound but could only use voucher if went up to the equivallent amount we had paid which means we would need to have paid out another 800-900pound again evwn though we had paid in full . i think this is disgusting and have not done so but means we wonnt get our money back but there was no way i could afford to pay this out again id be paying for my order twice waiting till monday to phone adminastrators can anyone offer us advice on what to do as lot of money to loose .
