Hello

My daughter has just passed her test and wants to drive my wife's car.

What is the best option(cheapest) to insurer her?

regards

We were in the same position last year and got a good deal from Norwich Union who we were already with. Tesco also gave a good quote.
Insurance is coming up for renewal in April and DD has had an accident which was her fault so I am expecting a big hike in premiums.

Tesco were the 2nd most expensive for me. Your best bet is to just search around.
it May also be worth doing a pass plus, however in my case it wasnt worth doing one as it would have only saved me £90 and to the test is around £100.
  • We insured my daughter with Tesco last year as they were the cheapest by far. This year, the renewal was still the cheapest but I saved another £100 by buying a new policy on the internet from Tesco. I telephoned to check that this was OK, and two different people confirmed it was OK. I asked how come, to be told, you cannot renew online but get a discount for a new policy. So, even if your renewal seems to be the best buy, take out a new policy and save even more.

Try Liverpool Victoria who are cheaper than most others to add teenage drivers to mother/fathers policy provided the offspring are not main drivers.

just sorting this out for my 17 yr old.
Have found so far www.cis.co.uk cheapest by a mile at under 800GBP 3rd party for an old banger of a clio .My wife as main driver, son added on.
    This was a phone quote
Cheapest on the comparison sites was 1300. Local brokers Swinton would insure him on his own with PASS+ for 1100
  • I would try https://www.confused.com this website has saved me hundreds of pounds over the past few years!
  • Ring round and compare prices but also get quotes quoting "Pass Plus" as well. If you compare the cost of the quotes with Pass Plus qualification they may be a lot cheaper than without (even taking into account the cost of the Pass Plus course).

In my sons case Pass Plus saved him £400 on his insurance quote thus well worth the £120 cost of the course.

http://www.passplus.org.uk/insurers.asp for a list of insurers

Our daughter is 17 this month and starting driving lessons so we have been searching for the best deal on insurance. Initially the best quote we were able to obtain was from Norwich Union at just under £1000 but I tried Direct Line and have gone with them. I have added her to my policy, fully comp, with my husband as another named driver and protected no claims for a total cost of less than £600! She will have a larger (£600) excess in the event of an accident but each named driver owns their own no-claims on this policy so she also have the chance to start building this so that we can get her own insurance as soon as possible, albeit this would only apply with Direct Line. Overall we think this is a good deal.

Im affraid you are gonna have to do the legwork yourself dosent matter if peope say "this and that" are cheaper it all depends on where you live, car , age and so many factors.

You are best using comparson sites like https://www.moneysupermarket.com and https://www.confused.com and write doew the cheapest price "DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINKS THO !" then go through a cashback site like https://www.rpoints.com as you can also get cashback as well.
