Saving Imports and Exports in Access 2007

Hi

Does anyone know if you can copy the saved imports / exports from one database to another, or do you have to re-create them in each database?

Thanks

Do you mean data / tables, or imported items like forms, queries etc?

Data can be linked from external sources, or directly imported, you can copy and paste tables and data from one database to another, providing they aren't secured with a workgroup file.

No, I meant the saving of import steps.

We have databases which have tables linked to external data sources and at various times of the year we freeze the data bases by importing the tables as they stand then.

Access now lets you save the import steps which is useful, but I wondered if it would be possible to import the import steps from one database to another as several tables are common.

    Thanks

You should be able to select import Import/Export specs by going to External Data - Access and then clicking the options button on the Import Objects box that appears.
  • I dont think you can save them from the import/export wizard (I could be wrong, been a while since I used it) but I seem to recall that when you create a spec, the settings for it are stored within a hidden system table in the database.

Try unhiding all tables and have a look, might just be a case of copyng this table over

Thanks. Unhid the tables but couldn't see anything. Looks like I will have to set them all up each database. Thanks for your help :-)

Sorry, I got it slightly wrong, it's the system tables you need to unhide, not the hidden ones
