Party wall act – neighbour is council tenant query

I am planning on building an extension on the front of my property. The party wall act has been brought to my attention. However, my neighbours are council tenants (we brought an ex-council property). Who would we need ‘approval’ from re the party wall act. The tenants or the council?

Call the council's estates department as they will advise you on this.

I'm not a party wall specialist but it couldn't hurt to issue notice to both your neighbour and the council.
