Take the kids out looking at nature

Register free with Nature Detectives (a lottery funded project run by the Woodland Trust), then you can download their great nature sheets - for identifying common leaves, flowers, insects and birds. Great for walks and car journeys.

Designed to be printed on a home printer, there are also puzzles, mazes and dot-to-dots for rainy days. Over 130,000 have been downloaded in 1 year.

Want to get out with the kids but don't know what you're looking for? You get a quality, colourful, ad-free email newsletter each month telling you what there is to see out there in the real world (like snowdrops, ladybirds, bluebells etc) and tips about good places to go.

They also send out a cool pack in the post every 6 months in Spring and Autumn - the last one was full of nice photos and had a colourful A3 poster with stickers which the kids love!
