Posting LP's

I am currently selling some LP's on ebay.

They're nothing special, in terms of condition or collectability, but they are getting bids, which is good for me! I will probably be selling about 50 in total, and just wondered what the cheapest MSE way of packaging them would be, as I do not want to just wrap and send as they are, as we all know that mail just gets thrown around when in the hands of RM, and they would probably end up broken.

Would it be just worth my while to purchase some LP mailers off ebay or are there any other avenues I can explore?

Suggestions/recommended sellers welcome.

I sold LP's a long time ago on eBay, and I just went to my local supermarket and asked for a load of cardboard boxes, took them home and then cut squares out of the sides just larger than the record. I then used these to make an LP sandwich and wrapped it in brown paper and tape, a lot of faffing about though.

Make sure (whatever method you use) to write DO NOT BEND! in nice big letters, front and back.

  • ....well I would make sure you add a reasonable postage and packing price,
I wouldnt presonally buy an item if this was too low as i would not trust it being securely packaged and posted quickly! Sure others would agree with me!

I bought rolls of bubble wrap, and packs of 4 large lined enelopes from the 99p store!! With some left over cardboard, parcel tape and shredded paper i can wrap most items very securely!
For a record i would reckon packaging would cost 80p to be as good as possible,
£5000 debt cleared thanks to MSE advice :money:

Pizza Boxes - ask your local takeaway if you can buy a few from them.

No, I don't intend to scrimp on the packaging, hence the reason I asked what would be the best way to package them securely.

    Thanks
  • You can buy mailers specially made for records, probably on ebay.
  • As you are selling 50 I would get 50 mailer envelopes and 50 or 100 plain cardboard inserts. It would save a lot of hassle...and if using pizza boxes make sure they are unused :)

    Write "Please Do Not Bend"
As a delivery gentleman once explained to me - The answer to "DO NOT BEND" is ...Yes it does.
You've got a much better chance of things getting there in the right number of pieces if you say Please.

If you want to save some money, get hold of some boxes (supermarket has been suggested), cut two squares to size to sandwich the LP and then wrap in brown packing wrap - very Blue Peter.

"Please do not bend" is a must and your friendly postmaster may also be able to give you some fragile stickers.

Whatever you do, make sure you get a proof of posting slip for each, incase they are damaged in the post.
