Candle wax in gas fire??

Hello. Over Xmas I stupidly put my fire on, forgetting about the candles on top of the fire, grrrr. The fire is a baxi bermuda gf3. When I realised what I'd done I turned fire off and tried to mop the wax up, then black smoke started to come out of the top of the fire. I think wax went inside the fire front and am scared to use it. Any advice, before I get my heating engineer out? Thankyou.

I would suggest getting a corgi registered fitter out to check it out. The wax may have onto the burners/injectors causing partial blockage which will lead to incomplete combustion resulting in carbon monixide being given off.0
