Postal delays?

I am just wondering if anyone has any info on the postage delays at the moment-
I am sure there is a huge backlog of stuff from Christmas, but not sure how much that would delay something.
I won an item Xmas day, I was emailed by the seller to say it had been posted on the 30th December (7 days ago, but only 4 postal days ago) being that first class is the way she sent it, how long should I wait for before doing anything? its now been 2 weeks since I won the item and it still has not arrived!
I am wary about this item as it was ver cheap when I won it- don't think the seller expected that! and would not be surprized if it is "lost". I do not want to give the seller the easy way out as this has happend too many times before! this time its war! neg and paypal involved if it does not arrive!! or am I jumping the gun?

You're probably jumping the gun, I am still waiting for a few things (not from eBay) that were posted a couple of weeks ago. I'd give it another few days, maybe until the weekend, and then take further action on Monday...give them the benefit of the doubt. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

Yup, contacted them yesterday. Still no reply but it has only been one day. I hate to stereotype but I do not hold out much hope with sellers that do not know English: my email about the postage went like this: "i hav posted your item out to you".

That's rich coming from someone who spells surprised with a 'z' and typed "ver cheap" in the original comment.

glad you asked this op, I sent some clothes on the 15th dec and my auntie still hasnt received them!! I have got a form from my friendly (!!) post office man. but i wondered if i should wait a while. I will wait til monday...He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

""i hav posted your item out to you".
they missed out 1 letter, give them a chance !! (or should that be "chanc")
reg op we sent an item out on the 30th and it has still not arrived. the buyer now wants a refund, but i know the thing will probably turn up before the weekend.
problem is we had so many numpty's over xmas leaving negative feedback rather than emailing us that i don't want to risk anymore.:grouphug:

If you ask the buyer to be patient, but re-assure them that you will refund them if it does not arrive having allowed reasonable time (21 days ?) for Xmas catch up, then I'm sure they will be understanding.
As you say, things do have a tendancy to ultimately turn up.0
