Has anyone got any experience with going to real general auctions? I'm looking into auctions for buying and reselling on eBay, but I think it's still possible to get some bargains for yourself.
I've only been to one auction near me, I can't say I was overly impressed with the prices compared to eBay, but things still went fairly cheap. An example of things that were being sold:
A "quantity" of inkjet cartridges £18
Siemens pocket PC £16
Bluetooth headset £14
Cordless phone £5
Siemens laptop £30
The disadvantage of auctions is that they're very long, I was there for 2 hours and didn't even get half way through, or you may have to wait a long time for something at the end of the list then it goes for more than you want to pay, etc.

Hi
I goto Genral auctions round where i live.
Ive had some excellent buys at the auction.
Imho the best thing to do is go on the viewing day have a good look round if you see anything you like you can
( the best thing about the viewing is you can go home and check prices on ebay )
Either
Return for the auction or
Leave your max bid at the office.
Have a look at http://www.thomsonlocal.com/index.htm?cobrand=pagebuilder for more local auctions.
Keep a eye out for church charity auctions you sometimes get little gems
JaffaR.I.P Sam, still in my heart0
