Combi boiler service every year?

my 3 year old W Bosch Combi is due its anual service, is it essential every year? Last year I think it cost me about £100, does that sound about right? I'm not looking to save money just checking a service is a service and the same checks are carried out, and does the engineer or myself have to let Wocester Bosch know its been done to keep the service record up to date?
Thanks in advance

Hi..I would say have one every year (servicing procedure is detailed in the boiler manual) and have your RGI record details in the Benchmark Log. If your boiler is still under warranty then this is an important requirement to maintain the warranty. Cost of service will vary according type/age/condition of appliances or where you live.

Yes it's advisable to get it serviced yearly . If it were within the guarantee period then the condition of the guarantee is it must be serviced annually. No need to tell WB...like a car just ensure that whoever services it fills in the service log at the back of the user manual. Sounds a bit on the high side to me the service cost...installers of my boiler (though it's not a combi) are quoting £70 though i had other quotes nearer the £100 mark. Foolishly i haven't had ours serviced yet...was due last November but cash is really tight - yes i should know better!!

Ooh, this is useful to know - OH just told me we are signing up to a 5 year warranty for £240 on our new W Bosch Combi which includes 4 services over the next 5 years - sounds like v good value for money to me compared to the price of your service (sorry, I know this is no help to you now, but it might help someone else)0

Alternatively sign up for a protection package.
We pay £13 a month. This covers an annual service & also next day call out & replacement of any parts required for any central heating problems.
We use a smallish local company but the Gas board also does a similar deal.0
