Co-operative bank have taken away my card

I have had a platinum credit card with Co-op bank for a number of years. It's on a fixed low rate. Since last year they have been reducing my credit limit and the when the card expired in November, they didn't send me a new card. My most recent statement showed a balance below the limit, but no credit available. I obviously can't use the account, as I don't have a card.

They wanted me to pay by direct debit, but I said I wouldn't, as the date they take it would have meant me making two payments in a month, which I can't afford. I now pay by direct bank transfer, as they seemed to be hanging onto cheques and taking up to two weeks to clear, so they could fine me late payment charges. I think it's because the rate is low and they want rid of my account, or to change it to a higher rate.

A couple of payments have been a day late, and they call me the day it's due. I feel harrassed by their behaviour and wonder if it's actually right that they can do this? I haven't received a letter from them explaining why they have taken the credit away either.

With regards to chasing you when you payment is day late imo it seems a bit full on.

I haven't, mainly because I hate talking to them, they are so patronising! Also, they have taken my credit away, so I expect they did it deliberately.

Really confused by that comment... if you pay by direct debit, payment will usually be taken on the due day, which is later than when you have to pay by transfer.

It does sound like they may have withdrawn the card - if there are late payments, which you admit, then I'm sure that's why the credit limit has come down.

Late payments due to them not clearing cheques for two weeks, and one that was one day late .. which was my fault. But shouldn't they write to me if they have withdrawn the card, as there is a balance on it?
