Buying a used car from a private owner with a credit card

Hi,
I'm planning to buy a used car from a private owner and the cheapest cash available to me is an interest free credit card. I'm assuming that the current owner will not be able to accept credit card as a form of payment, is it possible to do pay the owner by means of a balance transfer (and therefore get a 0% balance transfer credit card to do this)?
Thanks.

Which card are you hoping to use to make this purchase? Certain cards such as Egg and MBNA (including Virgin, Alliance & Leicester, Sony etc) allow you transfer funds directly to your bank account from where you could pay the seller.
Alternative if you have Egg Money you can route the Balance Transfer through this to your bank account.
Alternatively, if you have any Credit Card cheques the seller MAY accept these as payment.
