Leaving neg feedback at the last minute

If I wanted to leave negative feedback for a seller, and I left it right until the last minute of the 90 day period that you have to leave it, do you think it would then be impossible for the seller to leave retaliatory negative feedback for me?

It is unlikely but not impossible. Feedback can sometimes be left after the 90 days if a user knows how.

Rather than leaving neg can't you work things out? I feel negs should only be left as a last resort. But, in answer to your question, yes, but if he subscribes to any of the eBay selling services it will warn him that a neg has been received and he can then neg you back before the deadline. It's one of the bad things about eBay. Also remember eBay works on US time (can't remember which time zone though) so the 90 days isn't exactly 90 days from the transaction date...

If you want to do it make sure you get the timing right. They might neg you back within a few seconds.

I did this once, and negged within 10 mins of the time the auction finished. I was refused a refund so wanted to neg, but thought they would retaliate.
Anyway, the seller managed to neg me back the next day, so im not sure if this actually works.

I negged a Non-Performing seller four months after. She was Naru'd for a while and when she was reinstated I negged her.
The 90 day rule is a 'myth'.

  • It used to be the case that after 90 days you couldnt neg someone but ebay closed that loophole a while back & feedback can be left for a lot longer than that.

If you feel someone deserves a neg then have the courage of your convictions & leave it.
  • cant you work it out? what did the seller do?

  • I left negative feedback within 30 seconds of the 90 day rule and a warning flashed up stating the seller would have 10 days to respond. She didn't neg me because it was about an item not received.
  • We brought what was supposed to be a reconditioned dyson just before christmas, it was supposed to have been cleaned and come with tools and filters plus spare filters. It was dirty, adn really smelly, no filters in it or spares and no tools. It has taken them over a month to respond to my 3 emails. I would love to leave neg feedback as i dont think people should have to pay for things that arent really as they are described. But its dh account and he wont let me as he doesnt want the retaliation. sorry i know that doesnt help x

I've got two crummy ebayers I wanna neg but it's not worth getting one in return.

One of them (buyer) says he sent item, then couldn't remember if he sent it, then said he can't keep up communications cos his computer was broken.. I got a refund from paypal in the end, but I wish other ebayers knew how rubbish he was.

Then another ebay bidded and one for an item but bought it elsewhere and didn't want to pay!
