Looking for a house to rent - dogs allowed!

Hi,
We are currently looking at moving to somewhere else in Gloucestershire as we are fed up with where we live currently. However we have two dogs and find it very hard to find a 2/3 bed house which allows pets. Is anyone else in the same situ, any suggestions. Ideally we would like to downsize and save some money e.g. only pay 500-600 pounds per month. It is so time consuming looking and finding no where suitable.

Hi
It may be worth putting adverts in local newsagents (especially in small villages). Some farmers rent out houses (ex farm worker cottages) and if you aren't fussy about the latest modcons and style of house, kitchen etc...then you can find a cheap let with good landlords!! Have a chat with the people in the village shop/post office..do it the old fashioned way!!!
Good luck.

It is always worth asking about your dogs if you see a place that takes your fancy. Some LLs will say yes, even if the standard tenancy advert / agreement states 'no pets'. This is especially the case if the LL lets via a Letting Agent, as they do love their standard forms! When I put my house up for rent I made them change the wording to 'pets considered' - after all, we have them, so why shouldn't tenants? My neighbour is also a LL, and he always advertises as 'no pets', but relents if an otherwise suitable tenant comes along who want to keep their dog or cat. A couple of provisos though: - large, agressive dogs which might annoy / scare neighours or endanger children are out of order, and I do expect carpets etc to be cleaned when they leave to the same standard as when they moved in, ie spotless!0

It also rather depends on your work situation. A place in the country would be great but what about transport and so on?
I know they do come up as several of my friends have dogs and rent.
Good luck - check out local papers and internet ads.0
