Passport Question

Hi there,

Hope that is the most appropriate forum to post this question.

I am going to Gran Canaria in September this year and have a passport until 28 August 2007, I heard there is stipulations to the amount of time you need after you finished travelling - is 10/11 months enough?

Many thanks

  • from what i remember its 6 months so you should be ok...though i do know if you do renew extra early they will add on a maximum of 9 months for you hth
  • as above they will add on anything from yr current passport
i went to cyprus late august with a passport due to run out jan and it was ok.. but to be honest i was worried bout it all they way through passport control lol... some people say it depends on airline/staff or country if i was you renew it before you go then you wont have any issues...

  • You should have no problem with validity for Gran Canaria. The Canary Islands have special status within the EC and count as part of Spain. As far as I know there are no minimum validity requirements for Spain. If you would like to check ask the Spanish Embassy or tourist office.

Pretty much want to echo what monkeyspanner has said. Gran Canaria is an autonomous region of Spain and is fully part of the EU. Spanish entry requirements therefore apply, which for EU citizens is the requirement to hold a valid passport (or ID card - however as we in the UK don't have ID cards yet its a valid passport you need).
